Abstract
Purpose: To investigate whether illuminance and wearing tinted-glasses affect the change in color recognition.

Methods: Participants with no abnormalities in visual function and color vision were examined for color recognition at 380 lx and 80 lx. Color recognition was performed using a Korean color digital palette, and the experiments were repeated by wearing brown and gray tinted-glasses. They were measured using the L * a * b * color space and Munsell colorimeter.
Results: On comparing the color change of red, green, yellow, and blue according to the change in illumination, the color recognition of red and green color did not change significantly with the change in illuminance. Yellow was perceived as green and blue as red. When wearing tinted-glasses, the change in color recognition and hue was not observed in the four colors, and the change in brightness confirmed that the values of red and blue decreased the most in brown- and gray-tinted glasses. The decrease in chroma also demonstrated the greatest decrease in red and blue colors.

Conclusions: In this study, colors were recognized differently depending on the illuminance. Moreover, red and blue colors were perceived differently when wearing sunglasses.
